As of this moment, anyone using the specially designed interface for Leasey is working with ChatGPT4. We have held back on implementing ChatGPT5 for some time, primarily because until very recently, it was not possible for the method of access Leasey uses with ChatGPT to search the web. It could only query data up to a specific date.
Within the last few weeks, that functionality has become available. But even then, there has been some discussion about whether it should be implemented at all.
We have decided to do so but you should note the following:
1. ChatGPT5 can take far longer to process its responses. The amount of time it takes to process a response is based upon the complexity of the task in hand and whether it needs to research updated information from the web. Typical response times can be 6 seconds through to 45 seconds.
2. When the response is retrieved, it is likely to be more detailed than ChatGPT4.
3. Assuming you phrase your prompts thoroughly, ChatGPT4 still ought to be very good, fast and responsive. Those people who have attended my various AI training courses have lots of examples of prompts which are well constructed.
What you should know:
1. The ChatGPT5 implementation will be in the next Leasey update.
2. On the bottom of the Chat menu, Chat key then M, there will be a new option, enabling you to change the model of ChatGPT being used. You can change it from V4 to V5 and vice-versa.
3. Whether you choose to use ChatGPT4 or ChatGPT5, a significant improvement has been made to Leasey. With the existing implementation, every time a prompt is submitted, the computer cannot be used. This is because JAWS resources are significantly taken up with sending and retrieving information to and from ChatGPT.
This is now in the past. When you submit a prompt, a progress indicator sound will play out, letting you know that a response is being computed. If you wanted to, you will be able to use your computer in any way you choose while ChatGPT is processing the information. We felt this was imperative as some responses can take some time to arrive.
4. Whether you are using ChatGPT4 or ChatGPT5, the interface is identical to the current implementation.
We hope you enjoy using ChatGPT5 when it comes along. Our beta testers are very much appreciating the detailed answers it is providing. AI is part of our future, and such functionality will also be part of Leasey’s future in 2026.
