The Zoom scripts for JAWS do provide a high level of access to the Zoom Conferencing client for Windows. However, it has become increasingly difficult in recent months to view a list of upcoming and past meetings, to be able to start those meetings or delete them.
It is no longer possible to get a list of meetings and to be able to manage them as was the case previously. A calendar view needs to be selected and then the meetings are available. It is then necessary to select the Context Menu for the meeting.
For many users the process is time consuming and difficult. In May of this year, we will be making available the Zoom Accessible Scheduler.
This is an app designed by Hartgen Consultancy.
This will be a completely accessible solution which will allow you to:
- Obtain a basic meeting list containing the name and start time of the meetings, such as, Training with Joe, 7 PM. Press Enter to launch the meeting.
- View a full list of upcoming meetings. From this list, you can delete a meeting, edit a meeting, view its details such as ID and password, start the meeting and obtain the URL for it. You can also Email the details of the meeting to anyone, regardless of whether a user holds a Zoom account or not.
- Create a meeting using an accessible form. The form allows you to create a meeting title, contains convenient Combo Boxes for selecting date and time, preset Buttons to set convenient durations (such as 60 minutes) rather than specifying the end time, and the ability to add a message to the meeting invitation.
What you need to know:
The app is an addition to the existing Zoom scripts, so you would need those installed.
The cost for the Zoom Accessible Scheduler is £30 UK (approximately $42 US). This is in addition to the purchase of the Zoom scripts. If you already have the Zoom scripts, you just purchase the Zoom Accessible Scheduler.
You would need a Zoom account linked to your Email address and a password. This is how Zoom is aware of which meetings to retrieve and schedule.
Anyone can pre-order the app from this page.
